Admission into the International Order of Saint Stanislas is considered on the personal recommendations of worthy chevaliers and by submission of a formal application to the Grand Prior - Head of the National Association, and solemn ceremony of decoration with the insignia of the Order (Investiture). Persons under the age of 21 years, (18 by dispensation of the Grand Prior) will not be admitted into the Order.
The Associations do not assume the role of confirming or denying the legitimacy of nobiliary titles, military and special ranks, etc.
Members of the Order are addressed verbally as Knights and Dames of the Order.
The contracted notations of degrees are as follows:
Class I Grand Cross with Collar GCCStS
Class I Grand Cordon or Grand Cross GCStS
Class II Commander’s Cross with Star CSStS
Class Ill Commander’s Cross CStS
Class IV Officer’s Cross OStS
Class V Chevalier’s (Knight’s) Cross KStS

The Order disregards any consideration of race, religion or ethnic background and considers male and female as equals, with equal rights and equal responsibilities in all matters pertaining to the Order.
As a rule, admission of candidates is made into Class V (Knight’s/Dame’s Cross) of the Order only and promotion will be on further merit.
